Em Fyre knows what it is to have a happy home and a full heart. A single mother to 15-year-old Aurora and 11-year-old Derrick, Em spends her days surrounded by her loving support system, including her pitbull/heeler Lucky and her mischievous poodle, Obi.

For their entire lives, Em has been her children’s number one supporter, making sure that they know they can be anything they want to be as long as they put one foot in front of the other. Through this constant reminder to her own children, Em realized that in order for her children to take her advice and see it at work, she needed to set an example for them. In that moment, she decided that it was time to stop wanting to be an author—it was time to put one foot in front of the other and actually become one.
