Taylor Johnson

DIRECTOR OF EDITING & PUBLISHING

Taylor Johnson has been obsessed with reading since picking up the first Harry Potter book at seven years old. The following year, she was published in the Anthology of Poetry for Young Americans and hasn’t stopped writing and creating stories since. In addition to writing hundreds of poems in her adolescence, she has self-published a novel, Elysian Beginnings, and is currently working on her second novel.

For six years, Taylor was a high school English teacher before leaving the traditional classroom for a virtual one. She realized that the stories she was made to share with her students weren’t relatable or engaging, which meant she had two choices: continue to be a cog in the wheel, or fight back and bring relatable, diverse, engaging voices to center stage. She left traditional education and chose the latter. Taylor believes that all voices deserve to be heard, all stories deserve to be told, and all worlds deserve to be explored.

Taylor considers herself a life-long learner. After graduating high school, she attended The University of Texas at Austin, receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in English. Following her Bachelor’s she attended the American Musical and Dramatic Academy, studying acting for stage, film, and media. Since then, she has received a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus in Secondary Literacy and is working towards her MFA in Creative Writing from Concordia University, St. Paul.
